Circle History - Maude Rogers Circle - est. 1967
A few of the ladies from
Bellevue attended a meeting and from that meeting Maude Rogers Circle was
started in 1967 with eight members.
Maude Rogers was a very active volunteer for the Association for
Catholic Childhood. The circle has
averaged 18 members yearly since it started.
It is a very active circle meeting one a month from September thru
May. We have had a variety of fund
raising projects over the years. The
ladies helped with the opening of Doce’s Furniture Store. We have held garage sales, purchased baby
gifts, enjoyed dinner parties and attended plays all for the purpose of raising
money for the Association. Some members
also attended the Catholic Community Services Christmas Galas.
Fantasy Fair was always a special occasion, seeing all of the other circles participate together. We sold handmade Christmas decorations, bagged peanuts, and sold cookbooks and gourmet vinegar. Our most successful product was our homemade apple pies. Those pies were a sellout every year.
One of our members was a foster mother for many babies waiting to be placed in loving homes. Socially we had a barbecue every June for our members and their spouses.
Many years ago we started having cocktail parties with auctions. But for the past ten years our fundraising efforts have turned to our annual Spring Luncheon, Raffle, Silent and Oral Auction. Last year we donated twelve layettes to the Pregnancy Support Program and every year we donate Thanksgiving food baskets and Christmas gifts to families in need.
