Circle History - Marjorie Ryan Circle - est. 2003

In the fall of 2003, a dozen women from St. Catherine Parish in Seattle formed the Marjorie Ryan Circle.  The circle was founded by Erin Manca, Leslie Bartlett, Nicole Howard, Angie Budinich, Gayle Kaplan, Tara Demick, Tuyet Demick, Julie Oswald, Janice Walters, Mary Griffin, Annemarie Hamel and Karen Weber-Millstein.  We liked the idea of raising awareness and support for the needs of women and children while at the same time supporting each other.
Our circle's membership has increased and includes (in addition to the names listed above) the following current members: Deirdre Brownlow, Carla Fiery, Diana Gustafson, Tonya Jenne, Lori Mason-Curran, Jessica Nguyen-Jessa, Mary O'Connor, Johnna Reitz, Deb Ryan and Angie Wong.

The circle selected Marjorie C. Ryan as our namesake due to her devotion to her family, the Catholic Church and the Seattle community, and because of Marjorie Ryan's family relationship to two of our founding members. Marjorie was a wonderful example of commitment and active involvement in ACC whether she was selling calendars or preparing food for hungry children at the Orion Center.  A long time member of the Mary Draham Circle on Queen Anne Hill, she passed away on February 5, 2003. Marjorie Ryan is the mother of Father Michael Ryan who has been the Pastor of St. James Cathedral from 1988 to present.

Our primary fundraiser is the sale of Christmas wreaths and poinsettias. Thanks to the support of ACC members, St. James parishioners, St. Catherine parents and parishioners, our families and our friends, we have been able to increase sales each year.

We, of the Marjorie Ryan Circle, look forward to helping homeless families and neglected children for many years to come.
