Circle History - Lilly Peabody Circle - est. 2000

The “new” Lilly Peabody Circle was formed during the fall and winter of 2000 – 2001. We named our Circle for the first president of The Seattle Counsel of Catholic Women, as we were known at our beginning.  Harriet Lilly Macaulay Peabody (1870 – 1944) was the wife of Charles E. Peabody, pioneer Puget Sound shipping magnate.

Our Circle has had quite a variety of activities to raise money for the ACC coffers and from the beginning we have participated in all-Association events such as the Memorial Mass and the Spring Luncheon.  We’ve enjoyed the tradition of wearing hats to the lunch.

LILLY PEABODY CIRCLE ACTIVITIES HAVE INCLUDED:
  • Used Book Sale
  • 3 Garage Sales
  • 2 Lectures with wine, beverages and desserts provided.
Climbing Mount Everest featuring John Roskelley and Jim Wickwire
Meet Nancy Pearl – for book lovers and book groups
  • Sponsored a vender table for ACC at NW Catholic Women’s Conference 2005
  • Donating items to Frances Hoffman Circle Labor of Love Auction 2002 – 2006
  • Special order Christmas card sales – 2006 and 2007
  • Collaborating with the Frances Hoffman Circle to put on the Labor of Love on-line Auction, 2007 & 2008
  • Fashion Show and Luncheon - 2007
