Circle History - Katie McKay Circle - est. 1991
The Katie McKay Circle was formed in 1991. Our founding members were Colleen Cook, Catherine McDonald, Marilyn Bates, Mary Ahrensfeld and Sheila McKay Ryan.
Our circle was named after Katie McKay, Sheila Ryan’s mother. Katie was along time member of the Holy Family Circle. The founding members were so impressed by her dedication to charity, community and service. Most of our members live on Magnolia and are members of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Several members are the daughters of members of the Katherine Malloy Circle.
Our first fundraising project was selling Sno Cones at the Magnolia Summer Festival. Of course it was freezing cold that weekend and another vendor was selling Sno Cones in about 150 flavors. We had two. The members who participated recall the profit was about $1.98 for the entire weekend, but it was a great bonding experience.
Since then we have developed two much more profitable fundraisers. Join us for TRIVIA! in March, and the Magnolia Holiday Home Tour every other December.
