Circle History - Fr. Thomas Lane Circle - est. mid 70's
In the mid 70’s, Helen Jolly
and Mickey Finnegan, contacted Nancy Monahan about starting a circle in
Renton. Most of the first members
belonged to St. Anthony Parish. The name
Fr. Thomas Lane Circle was selected to honor our long time pastor.
Our first members were: Mary Ann Brawley, Connie Brown, Sue Dahlburg, Sue Donnelly, Wanda Franceschina, Pat Ramseth, Nancy Monahan, Roberta Sayers, Connie Smith and Betty Weitzel. In the early years, a great part of circle work was volunteering. We had many angel hours doing office work, sewing, babysitting for foster parents, driving children to doctor and counseling appointments and processing baby clothes and furniture. Target donated baby and maternity clothes which we delivered to the proper CCS agency. We also helped with the various functions ACC hosted for foster families. Our first socials and fund raisers were progressive dinners, wine tasting parties, garage sales, raffles, a sale of flower arrangements and participation in Fantasy Fair. We now have a twice-yearly bunko and ice cream social. We continue to provide baby items and toys for ACC. Nancy Monahan was a past board member and president of ACC from 1982-84. Judy Schroeder is a present board member and 1st VP. In the early 90’s, St. Jude Circle joined with our circle. Several members of St. Jude Circle have been board members too. |
