I hope you enjoy reading about our active and busy association.
There was a small mistake in the newsletter regarding the Father Lane Circle event this weekend and their Bunco Party date. Please note: Father Lane Oktoberfest is this Saturday, October 3rd, from 10am-5pm, at St. Anthony in Renton. Their Bunco party is Sunday October 11th from 2-4pm. They’re hoping you can join in the fun. Also, we are hoping that all members will consider supporting ACC with an order of Paperwhites or Tulip Bulbs. Both are great for yourself or as a hostess gift. It is important to consider the importance of these fundraisers, as each little bit helps. Both fundraisers have low costs which equates to greater circle project fundraising, which in turn helps our grant funding. both in the fall and spring. St. Bridget Circle Paperwhite Basket Order Form and Lilly Peabody Circle Bulb Order Form Marjorie Ryan Circle will also be selling wreaths soon. We are hoping to coordinate a west side delivery point (Magnolia) for you members that can’t make it to St. Catherine’s in Maple Leaf for pickup. Same consideration on the cost vs donation to ACC for wreath sales. The Mary Ann Sauvage Circle is now inactive, (although great contributors to our Celebrate the Children event), and we will lose the proceeds from their poinsettia sale this year, so please take a look at the Paperwhite Basket and Bulb order forms and consider mailing in an order ASAP. Orders due with payment by October 14, 2015. And last, you should have received your “save the date” card via email or USPS for our November 14th Celebrate the Children event. Here is a little history on why we” Celebrate the Children…” In 2002 the seed was planted to establish an endowment fund for the Association for Catholic Childhood. After several years of planning and initial funding, the Celebrate the Children (CTC), event was created. Every other year since 2009, we have encouraged members to invite their friends and associates to participate in this fun-filled evening which has added over $120,000 to the endowment fund. Great food, a wonderful presentation, raffle, bingo, and of course raising the paddle. Please join us for the 4th Celebrate the Children event and help us in our efforts to fulfill our mission in support of Western Washington children and families in need, regardless of race or creed. Invitations will be mailing soon. ![]() A Legacy of Service "You were one of the angels God sent to protect me. I will never forget your face and how safe I felt when you came for me." Special Note of Thanks from Jim Legaz To my fellow supporters and advocates for children: This will be the last opportunity I have to thank you for your past partnership and to encourage your ongoing support for children and families being served by Catholic Community Services with the support of the Association for Catholic Childhood. Effective August 31st, 2015 I will officially be retired after 46 years with the agency. During my time as the Director of Family and Children’s services, I have had the privilege of serving children and families through CCS’ Foster Care Program, Adoption Services and Pregnancy Support Services programs. - A young man Jim encountered as a four year old in Foster Care As I prepare to retire, bulging file cabinets full of client stories bring a flood of memories. I have been humbled, privileged and honored that so many have allowed me to share in their hopes and struggles and joys. From children in foster care and their parents, to women in crisis pregnancies, to couples struggling to build a stable and loving environment, these families allowed me to share in their journey – some very deeply. It is profoundly moving and humbling to know that one person can make a significant difference in the life of another. How rewarding to be able to do that for a living for 46 years! I am so very grateful for these memories and the opportunity to have worked so closely with these families. I have appreciated your generosity and your partnership as you have joined CCS and ACC’s efforts to serve the children and families in our community. Without your generosity and partnership, we would have accomplished precious little over the years. I ask that you would show your continued support for ACC, so that together we can continue to change the lives of children and families in our sacred care. Sincerely, Jim ![]() As we look forward to one of our largest fundraisers for the year, we are excited to share with you that we will have some very heartwarming stories presented about the success of people helped by the grant funding here at ACC. So many women and children have seen a positive outcome in the lives due to generous members and endowment gifts. PLEASE SAVE THE DATE!! Saturday November 14, 2015.
